Anglikang Expands Anti-Infective Portfolio with Two New API Approvals
On June 2, 2026, Zhejiang Anglikang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 002940) announced that it had recently received the Approval Notices for Marketing Applications of Chemical Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for Amoxicillin and Ampicillin issued by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
According to the company, the registration applications for Amoxicillin and Ampicillin APIs were submitted in December 2024 and January 2025, respectively, and have now been officially approved.
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class. It is widely used for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, genitourinary infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. Ampicillin is a semi-synthetic β-lactam antibiotic commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, meningitis, endocarditis, and other bacterial diseases.
According to data from the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of the NMPA, there are currently 17 domestic manufacturers with "A" status registrations for Amoxicillin API and 12 manufacturers with "A" status registrations for Ampicillin API, indicating a highly competitive market environment.
Anglikang stated that the approval of these two APIs will further enrich its product portfolio, strengthen its presence in the anti-infective segment, and enhance the company’s overall competitiveness and market influence.
The company also noted that competition in the API market remains intense, and the future commercial performance of these products may be affected by factors such as industry policies, market conditions, commercialization efforts, and competitive dynamics. Investors are advised to pay attention to potential risks.
As China’s API industry continues to move toward higher standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and internationalization, pharmaceutical companies are increasing investments in product registration, quality management systems, and global market expansion. The approvals of Amoxicillin and Ampicillin APIs further demonstrate Anglikang’s commitment to strengthening its anti-infective business and enhancing its long-term product competitiveness.
