1. Dimethyl-β-propiothetin (DMPT) is a naturally occurring sulfur-containing compound and the fourth-generation aquatic feed attractant. The attractant effect of DMPT is 1.25 times that of choline chloride, 2.56 times that of betaine, 1.42 times that of methylmethionine, and 1.56 times that of glutamine. Glutamine is the most effective among amino acid-type attractants, yet DMPT shows better results than glutamine. The attractant effects of cuttlefish viscera and earthworm extracts are mainly attributed to their various amino acids. Scallops can also serve as feed attractants, and their umami taste originates from DMPT. Studies have shown that DMPT is currently the most effective feed attractant available.

2. The growth-promoting effect of DMPT is 2.5 times that of semi-natural bait without added attractants.
